Specifically, by September 30, 2021, Vietnam has exported 212,983 tons with a turnover of US$ 719.16 million, compared to the same period in 2020, the export volume decreased by 3.2% but the export turnover increased by 47%. . From the beginning of October 2021 to now, the domestic pepper price has increased by an average of 8,000 VND/kg. While the export price of Vietnam's pepper increased by 200 USD/ton.

It is forecasted that pepper prices will continue to increase, due to a sharp decrease in the production of countries due to climate change and the demand for Tet holidays at the end of the year. According to The Hindu, pepper growers in Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts of Karnataka state, India are worried that pepper production may drop sharply due to erratic weather.

Prolonged rains cause soil moisture to increase, affecting the ability of pepper plants to grow. Some growers fear that production in the 2021-2022 crop year will fall by 50%, compared with 65,000 tons in 2020-2021.
