I, IMPORT - EXPORT DATA IN JANUARY,2021

1.Import
Vietnam imported a total of 139,945 mt RCN in January 2021, which is 113.35% more than in January last year.
On top of that, Vietnam imported 7,401.55 mt of raw cashew kernels with testa, the equivalent of 32,895 mt RCN. That is 111.62% more than the same month last year.
Both imports of kernels and kernels with testa more than doubled this month compared to January last year.

2.Export
Vietnam exported 47,854 mt of cashew kernels in January 2021. It is almost 5,000 mt less than last month but a considerable increase compared to the previous year. 
Exports in January 2021 are 82.32% higher than in January 2020. 

II, MARKET NEWS AND EVALUATION

1. Raw cashew market

There have been many offers of West Africa RCN on the market. However, there are not many buyers. There are some successful deals with prices:

• IVC 48/200: 1150 USD/mt C&F HCM,
• IVC 49/200: 1170 - 1185 USD/mt C&F HCM,
• Nigeria 49/200: 1050 - 1070 USD/mt HCM

Tanzania raw cashew 2020 is being offered a lot at the bonded warehouse and upcoming cargoes, but due to high price, the demand for buying is not high
Prices are offered at 1450-1480 USD/mt for 51-52 lbs/200 nuts

2. Cashew Kenels Market

The market is quiet, many customers already have inventories, so there is no need to buy for prompt delivery. Some customers asked for forward delivery, but due to the unbalanced price with the roasters and the export price, there were not many confirmed orders. Currently, buyers are waiting to see if the freight is able to cool down or not to calculate the purchase price accordingly. The shortage of ships, the lack of empty containers is still very serious, many factories cannot export goods and have no money to take raw cashew nuts in the port.
  Many factories focus on maintaining machines, upgrading factories for Tet holidays, some factories  are busy to roast cashew nuts for domestic sales prior Tet holidays. Domestic consumption of salt-roasted cashew kernels in testa has increased significantly in recent years.
