According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in April, Vietnam exported 555,769 tons of rice, equivalent to USD 276 million, an increase of 5% in both volume and turnover. However, compared to the same period last year, exports decreased in both volume and value with a corresponding decrease of 28.9%, 35% and 8.5%.

In April, rice exports to the main market Philippines increased strongly by 79% in both volume and value compared to March, with 243,398 tons, equivalent to USD 111.1 million.

Export of this item to the Chinese market in April continued to increase by 23% in volume and 28.7% in turnover compared to March with 118,491 tons, equivalent to USD 64.4 million.

Accumulated over the first four months of the year, rice exports stood at 2.1 million tons, equivalent to nearly USD 1 billion, an increase of 4.4% in volume, but a decrease of 6% in turnover compared to the same period last year.

The Philippines still ranks first in Vietnam's consumption of this item, accounting for 44.4% of the total volume and 41.3% of the total export turnover of this item, with 915,534 tons, equivalent to USD 422.2 million. Compared to the same period last year, the rice sold to the Philippines increased by 27.9% in volume, increased by 10.7% in value.

China ranked second, accounting for over 14.4% of the total volume and 15.4% of the total turnover, with 296,941 tons, equivalent to USD 155.39 million.

Ivory Coast market ranked third with 212,604 tons, equivalent to USD 90.8 million, a strong increase of 65% in volume and 40.4% in turnover but a decrease of 14.9% in price over the same period. Ivory Coast accounts for 10.3% of the total volume and 9% of the total rice export turnover of the country.

Rice volume to RCEP FTA markets at 1.4 million tons, equivalent to USD 661.6 million, an increase of 10% in volume but a decrease of 1.2% in turnover.

Exports to CPTTP FTA markets reached 157,509 tons, equivalent to USD 78.5 million, a decrease of 3.3% in volume and 12.5% in turnover.
