The domestic market is going through a quiet period after consecutive declines since the beginning of the month. Meanwhile, the paradox still occurs when export pepper prices remain stable and increase steadily. Observers said that the next few days will be the time when pepper prices will prosper, rise again when the market will be excited with the buying power of exporters. An industry trader revealed that white pepper contracts with Chinese customers remained stable until before Christmas this year. It is expected that in the last two months of the year, Vietnam's export volume will be more than 30,000 tons.
In the world market, according to The Hindu Business Line, in India, demand for pepper has improved when the economy begins to reopen after a long time being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. . This leads to end-consumers scrambling to buy pepper at prices set by the sellers themselves. However, the supply in the market is limited, which leads to skyrocketing prices.
Statistics show that, in the last 5 weeks, Indian pepper prices have increased continuously by 18%. According to the Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first 20 days of November 2021, the price of black pepper and white pepper on the world market fluctuated unevenly, increasing in most of the producing countries. It is forecasted that world pepper prices will continue to increase due to increased demand at the end of the year.
